The Bangor & Aroostook - The Final Years DVD
This program was filmed in 1994 and 1995, when the B&A was in financial trouble. Chester Kamuda captured switching at Northern Maine Junction, a chase of the Searsport job and work at Millinocket yard and at the Great Northern paper plant in East Millinocket. We see a freight at Mapleton, coming off the Washburn cutoff from Presque Isle. At Presque Isle, the local switches a warehouse. An added treat is a day in the life of shortline Aroostook Valley in its final days. Finally, Chester filmed the Van Buren job as it interchanged with the Canadian National over the International Bridge.
There are many great places to watch trains. The Alleghenys on the Pennsy, Sherman Hill on the UP--and the Baltimore and Ohio on Sand Patch. CSX Transportation now runs the trains over Sand Patch and Chester Kamunda has visited and filmed the best locations on the climb over the Alleghanies, from Cumberland MD, to Meyersdale, PA. We visit Viaduct Junction Tower in Cumberland. Hyndman, PA, Fairhope, PA, the Mance Curve in PA, the west portal of Sand Patch Tunnel, Keystone and Meyersdale. Featured scenes include the Western Maryland viaducts at Keystone and Salisbury Junction.
Chester Kamuda has provided the video for this program.
